My review:

I read a lot and I absolutely love a good paranormal thriller. The Dogs seemed like it would be a great fit especially with Halloweeen right around the corner. I was kindly provided this book in an E-ARC version from netgalley.com and Sourcebooks for review.

I think this would be a great book for someone who likes ghost stories, creepy houses, family dynamics, coming of age stories and books that show a lot of character growth.

Cameron, a boy who is constantly moving from Town to town while on the run with his mother from what appears to be an abusive situation with Camerin's father. The story follows their move to an isolated farmhouse with a story of its own. You start the story with Cameron looking out the window and seeing the face of a young boy.. He goes on to explore the house and the history of the place before he and his mom moved in. All this is going on while he is dealing with a new school, family problems, and he starts to believe that he might be going cray.

There is a good blend in this book of paranormal activities and real life drama which really provides a lot for all types of readers. Cameron has to go through a lot including bullying and mental illness as well as a whole variety of family issues. There are quite a few instance of paranormal activities to also keep readers who enjoy this aspect entertained.

I enjoyed the way the mystery wrapped up but it felt a little rushed for me. Also, I thought this read on the younger end of YA. I would recommend this for anyone who likes paranormal mixed with a level of growth and development of the main character. Definitely very enjoyable to read.

My star rating:
3.75 out of 5 stars
