Mid November Book Haul

Okay. I couldn't help myself. I was buying some books for my nephew for Christmas on www.bookoutlet.com and I just couldn't help myself. I had to have a few things for myself as bookoutlet has so many amazing deals.

If you have never visited this site I will give you an idea about what they do. The provide discounted books at extremely fair prices but they also have a 50/50 section which has a specific type of book 50% off their price every week. They also have what they call a Scratch and Dent section where you can get books at an incredibly low price, some with VERY minimal damage and some with a little more damage. It is kind of a gamble to go with the Scratch and Dent. I have received books with just a slight not even noticiable rip in the dust jacket to COMPLETELY missing the dust jacket all together. I definitely have had better good luck than I have had bad luck so it is worth checking out.

Anyways, I ended up making a few purchases myself because, why the hell not?

I am trsally looking forward to getting into these books. All are a little different from eachother but I think they are going to make great reads. I have heard about all of these books from Book Tubers, some with good reviews or some with mixed reviews (tender morsels) but I am still very excited to read them in the coming weeks.

Victorian Horror

Trying to stop myself but I can't help but already be in the Christmas spirit. I went nuts today and ended up finishing my Christmas shopping for my husband, brother, sister-in-law, and dad so awesome that I am ahead.

Still reading "The Monstrumologist" by Rick Yancy and I am loving it. I think a review on the back described it as "Victorian Horror" and so far I find that extremely accurate. It is definitely a lengthy read but I think it will be more than worth it and will encourage me to continue with the series.

Also, still working on potty training with the pup but he is just getting cuter and cuter as the day goes by. So excited to watch him get bigger and bigger and Martin the cat is really starting to get used to him being around.

Reading More Than One Book at Once

Well, I don't know know about every other reader but I can never decide what to read!

So, to help with that I end up reading more than one book at a time. Is anyone else like that?

After stopping at Half Price Books yesterday I started reading just page 1 of "The Monstrumologist" by Rick Yancy. 40 pages later it seemed like something that I couldn't put down so I ended up thinking I hadn't finished "Anna and the French Kiss" by Stephanie Perkins yet.

I decided to just read them both right now. Very different topics and different narative voices but I couldn't decide so I am going to be doing both.

Am I alone in this. I just can't help myself. There is just soooo much I want to read.

On a different note, my puppy went on his first walk last night and he was so adorable and I love how well behaved he was and how much fun he seemed to have!

Mondays

I happened to adopt the most adorable puppy yesterday, President Brover Cleveland, and spent my lunch at Half Price Books today looking for puppy training books and books on English Springer Spaniels.

Well anyways, I couldn't stop by HPB and not browse for something extra to take home. I happened to find good deals on "The Monstromologist" by Rick Yancy and "White Cat" by Holly Black. Mini Book Hauls on my lunch break are always an awesome way to start the week. Happy Monday.

Looking foward to getting into both of these in the very near future.

Starting a blog...

So, first things first I wanted to start writing down what I was reading and what was going on because I wanted a way to hold myself accountable for things I say I am going to do.

I didn't want to bore people with it so if you read it, that's great...if you don't I don't blame you...we live busy lives afterall.
However, I do think it is important to give yourself a way to imagine and if you are anything like me you watch way too much TV and just want to sit around and do something mindless after a long day at work BUT reading is a great alternative.

I stopped reading for awhile in college. Got distracted by class assignments and required reading and I am so happy I picked it back up after I got out of school.

I have decided to set myself a challenge in the upcoming year and to prepare for that I have decided to start this blog.

My goal for 2014 is to read 50 books in 52 weeks. Not an uncommon challege but one I am looking forward to completing!
