Valentine's Reads: A Read For Everyone

A Valentines Read For Everyone

Romantic Love:

9754815

If you are looking for something to put you in the mood for romance than definitely pick this up or anything by Stephanie Perkins. The Anna and The French Kiss companion series if comprised of 3 books following 3 different couples as they navigate first loves.

All the stories take place in a different location  but tie together. You can technically read them in any order but personally I suggest publication order.

If you like books with romantic settings, realistic romances, and personal growth and you love happy endings then I would pick up this love fest on V-Day.

Love Yourself:

18304322

What wonderful things have not been said about this great contemporary novel that came out in 2015. It follows a plus size girl as she struggles with loss, friendship, and self acceptance.

As our main character navigates through her spontaneous entry into her towns most popular event, a teen beauty pageant, while dealing with her first relationship, the growing pains of friendship, the death of a loved one, and her own self confidence and love for herself.

I loved that this was more about self-love and friendship than it was about high school romance so if you are looking for something not saturated in red and pink hearts I would pick this up and think about the love you have for who you are this Valentines Day.

Steamy Read:

16096824

If this Valentines you are looking for something a little more on the sexy side I would pick up Sarah J Maas first book in her new new adult/YA series.

What begins as a "Beauty and the Beast" retelling with fairies turns into a pretty steamy love affair with quite a bit of action of all types to keep you entertained.

Definitely wouldn't consider this smutty but a little sexier than you typical YA and a whole lot of fun to read. Also, very quick and stars a feisty main character who happens to be a female bad ass. No one writes female bad asses quite like Maas.

Understanding Romance:

If you are looking for a read that is a little nontraditional I would pick up this amazing piece of nonfiction by Aziz Ansari. I actually listened to the audio book for this and would definitely suggest picking it up in that format.

I know that I personally expected this to be similar to other celebrity books I had read in the past that were full of anecdotal information about the stars life and lessons they learned, etc. But this was definitely anything but that.

Aziz decided that he wanted to know how dating rituals had changed over the years and how dating and relationships were formed in a decades and even different countries.

He does quite a bit of research in Japan which I thought was so amazing. Not only does he talk about things like texting, and dates, but he even approaches topics like masturbation and sex with maturity and not with gory details.

I felt like he was raw and honest and had a professor and the research to back up his finding. Definitely one of the best nonfiction books I have ever read.

Conclusion:

If you are in a relationship or still looking for love pick up a good book and learn a little more about the subject. Happy Reading!
